Finding Community, Balance, and Friendship
I wanted to take a moment to share my table tennis journey with all of you. My name is Tarun Tandon, and I am proud to be a member of the Canadian Community Table Tennis Association (CCTTA). I work as a Software Engineer at Extreme Networks, and in addition to my professional commitments, table tennis has become an integral part of my life.
My passion for table tennis began 40 years ago in India. As a young player, I participated in competitive tournaments at the state level during my junior school years. The excitement and enthusiasm I felt while playing those matches were indescribable. However, as life moved forward, I had to prioritize other professional careers, leading to breaks in my sports journey.
It was not until I relocated to the Bay Area in the USA for work that I had the opportunity to reignite my love for table tennis. Participating in tournaments became a consistent part of my life. When I later moved to Canada, I was thrilled to find the Canadian Community Table Tennis Association (CCTTA) and immediately joined their leagues.
The CCTTA has provided me with a platform to not only improve my skills but also build meaningful connections with people from different communities. Through weekly divisional leagues and exciting events like the Top 8 Open series and doubles team tournaments, I have formed strong bonds with my teammates. The spirit of teamwork and the sense of belonging within the CCTTA community has been truly inspiring.
For me, table tennis is more than just a sport. It has become a means of finding balance in my life, maintaining my physical and mental well-being, and releasing work-related pressures. The joy and fulfillment I experience at the table are unmatched. Table tennis has given me an avenue to meet incredible individuals, forge lasting friendships, and build a community that supports and encourages each other.
I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the CCTTA and witness the growth and camaraderie within our table tennis community. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your continued support and enthusiasm. Let’s keep playing, connecting, and spreading the love for this incredible sport!
