OFFICIAL NOTICE: Mandatory Safe Sport Compliance for Coaches and Managers

Effective Date: Immediate

Applicability: All Provincial Coaches, Team Managers, and High-Performance Centers

Table Tennis Canada (TTCAN) and the Ontario Table Tennis Association (OTTA) are strictly enforcing Safe Sport compliance for upcoming events and the 2026-27 season. This is part of our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.

All coaches and managers must carefully review and comply with the following mandatory requirements and deadlines:

1. Mandatory Safe Sport Training Deadlines

Completion of the Safe Sport course is now strictly obligatory for all coaches and managers operating in the following capacities:

  • 2026 Canadian Championships
  • 2026 Ontario Summer Games
  • All High-Performance Center (HPC) Coaches (Must be completed by August 1st, 2026)

Course Access & Details: The mandatory NCCP Safe Sport Training module can be completed online via The Locker.

  • Cost: FREE
  • Time to Complete: Approximately 60 to 90 minutes (can be completed in multiple sessions).

2. New HPC Recognition Requirements (2026-27 Season)

Moving forward into the 2026-27 season, the OTTA will implement stricter standards for club recognition. OTTA will only recognize High-Performance Centers (HPCs) that meet the following criteria:

  • At least one coach must have fully completed their Safe Sport training.
  • At least one coach must have completed their Introduction to Competition evaluation.

Failure to meet these requirements will result in a loss of HPC recognition status for the upcoming season.

3. Rule of Two Compliance & Upcoming Mandate

All coaches and managers operating at our events are expected to adhere to core safety protocols designed to protect both athletes and staff.

While the formal Understanding the Rule of Two training module is currently highly recommended, please be aware that OTTA will make this course fully mandatory in the very near future. All coaches and managers are strongly encouraged to complete it proactively.
