Daniel Liang of “Three Ten TT Club” in Ontario and Olivia Ziyi Wang of “True North TT Club”, also in Ontario, did very well at the “ITTF Hopes Challenge”, which was held in Sheffield, England, and ended on 19 October 2025.

Both Daniel and Olivia qualified through the Pan American Hopes week held in August in Guatemala. 18 Boys and 18 Girls, under 12 years of age, from around the world were selected to take part in a one-week training camp followed by a “challenge” competition.

Olivia Wang placed 2nd in her group, which qualified her for the knock-out stage where she finished 3rd overall amongst the 18 selected girls. It should be noted that Olivia is in fact U11 and is still eligible for this event next year.

Daniel Liang, also did well placing 10th overall amongst the 18 participating boys,

Both players had done very well in the U13 Target Group Tournament in April 2025 in Mississauga and at the Canadian Junior Championships in July in Richmaond, B.C. It is encouraging to see that top national results are now translating into excellent results at the international level.

Congratulations to Olivia and Daniel and their respective coaches. They are on target for the 2028/32 Target Group Olympic objectives.
