  • National Event Qualification (Effective January 2025)

    Starting in January 2025, athletes wishing to represent Ontario at national events must fulfill the following requirements:

    • High-Performance Membership: Hold a valid High-Performance membership with Ontario Table Tennis.
    • Minimum Event Participation: Participate in a minimum number of designated events during the 2024-25 season.

    More details:

    • A limited number of High-Performance members (8 per age category) will be granted guaranteed rights to represent Ontario at Canadian and other National events. To qualify, athletes must meet the following criteria:

      • Event Participation: Participate in at least 3 out of 4 ON1 and ON2 events organized before the TTCAN registration deadline.
      • Minimum Recognized Events:
        • Senior athletes: At least 6 recognized events on the Ontario Ranking List.
        • Youth athletes: At least 12 recognized events on the Ontario Ranking List.

      High-Performance Athletes Outside the Top 8

      Athletes who are not ranked within the top 8 of their age category but wish to register for National events must:

      • Be a member of a High-Performance Club.
      • Meet the minimum event participation requirements:
        • Senior athletes: 12 events.
        • Youth athletes: 24 events.
      • Submit an annual training plan for the current season, approved by OTT.

      Exceptions

      • Elite and International Level Players: Exempt from minimum ON1/ON2 event participation and the 12-month event count.
      • Continental and National Level Players Training Outside Ontario: May apply for exceptions, subject to OTT’s discretion.
      • Other High-Performance Athletes: May apply for exceptions with detailed explanations and supporting documentation, subject to OTT’s discretion.
      • Over 40 – veterans’ categories are not OTT High Performance program and competitive memberships is sufficient for participation at national events.
  • Earn points for Ontario ranking
  • Earn Canadian rating points – 2 Stars

FORMAT

All registered players will be divided into divisions of 9 players based on ORL (February 2025).

Stage 1: 3 RR of 3 players

All advance to second stage where 1st of each group play with each other. Same for 2nd and 3rd finishers in Stage 1 RR.

Each player will play 4 matches.

Registered players with lowest ORL may have different format if division of nine players cannot be formed

In case of more than 72 registered players (Toronto area) the additional venue may be selected for tournament and training camps

  • Full refunds for withdrawals will be granted only if the withdrawal request is received before March 1st. After this date, no refunds will be issued.
  • Draw and seeding explanation
  • Seeding positions will be based on last available Ontario Ranking List before the tournament
  • Referee has right to estimate player’s ranking in case of players without position at Ontario Ranking List
  • All matches best of 5
